Legalisation requirements for Ethiopia

Document for use in Ethiopia first needs to be legalised by way of FCDO Apostille and then submitted to the Consulate of Ethiopia for further attestation.

FEES

The consular fee is £80 per commercial or private document and £50 per personal document for matters related to Ethiopian nationals (an Ethiopian passport or ID card is required as proof of nationality).

PROCESSING TIME

The consular processing time is likely to be 2-3 working days.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Ethiopian documents must first be authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ethiopia.

Documents that have not been issued in the UK or Ethiopia must be authenticated by the governing body of the country where the documents were issued and further Apostilled by the FCDO in the UK before being submitted to the Consulate.

Submission of documents for legalisation is on Mondays and Wednesdays only.
