Legalisation requirements for Kenya

Document for use in Kenya first needs to be legalised by way of FCDO Apostille and then submitted to the Consulate of Kenya for further attestation.

Court documents, Statutory Declarations and Powers of Attorney for use in Kenya do not usually need to be legalised if they have been signed/authenticated by a UK notary public (s. 88 and 91 of the Kenyan Evidence Act 1963 (as amended)).

FEES

The consular fee is £12.50 per document (including the postal order fee of £7.50) PLUS the Royal Mail special delivery envelope to and from the Consulate.

PROCESSING TIME

The consular processing time is likely to be 5-10 working days.

IMPORTANT NOTES

A photocopy of the document is required upon submission to the Consulate.

The Consulate also requires an Application Letter detailing the need for legalisation, signed and dated by the applicant (the document holder) as well as a copy of the applicant’s passport (ID page only).

Submission and return of documents are accepted via postal service only.
