Legalisation requirements for Qatar
Document for use in Qatar first needs to be legalised by way of FCDO Apostille and then submitted to the Consulate of Qatar for further attestation.
FEES
The consular fee is £22 per private document or £33 per commercial document, except invoices for which they charge based on the invoice amount and Certificate of Incumbency which they charge £22 per certificate.
PROCESSING TIME
The consular current estimated processing time is likely to be 12-20 working days.
The Consulate accept submission and return of documents via postal service only.
IMPORTANT NOTES
Foreign documents ARE NOT accepted, EXCEPT documents issued in the Republic of Ireland, Norway, Iceland, Jersey, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Channel Islands and British Overseas Territories, which must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the respective country of origin prior to submitting to the consular section of the Embassy of Qatar in London for further legalisation.
Certificate of Good Health: For Qatar you can obtain a certificate of good health online.
Documents from the British Overseas Territories must be first Apostilled in the region of origin and then further Apostilled by the UK FCDO prior to submitting to the Consulate of Qatar.
Documents from Crown Dependencies can be submitted directly to the Consulate once Apostilled in the region of origin.
Commercial documents such as: certificate of origin, invoices, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of goods…etc, must be attested by the London and Arab-British Chambers of Commerce prior to submitting to Consulate.
Documents notarised and Apostilled as a bundle ARE NOT accepted in any circumstances. Each document must be Apostilled separately.
For educational certificates, the Consulate requires the following three items submitted together:
- Degree Certificate/Diploma;
- Supported by its transcript; and
- A cover letter from the issuing educational institution confirming ALL the points set out below:
- The qualification / genuineness of the certificate,
- The mode and type of study: whether full time/part-time or distance learning (E-learning)/ proximate learning (face to face learning),
- The place of study and the place where the examination was held,
- The awarded title of the issued diploma, i.e Degree (BA or Bsc), Masters or Doctorate program,
- The length of the course,
- The actual dates of study (start date and the end date).
All educational documents listed above must be certified separately by a UK solicitor or notary public and Apostilled by the UK FCDO prior to submitting them for legalisation by the Qatari Consulate in London.
If an educational document (degree or transcript) has previously been legalised, a copy of the previously legalised document must be submitted along with the new document requiring legalisation.
In addition, any certificate obtained via distance learning or an online program WILL NOT be accepted for legalisation as this is not in accordance with the rules of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Doha.
