Legalisation requirements for Nepal
Document for use in Nepal first needs to be legalised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nepal and then submitted to the Consulate of Nepal in London for further attestation.
Only documents related to Nepalese citizens can be legalised by the Consulate in London.
For documents related to British nationals or companies incorporated in the UK, the FCDO Apostille only should suffice for submission to the local authorities in Nepal.
FEES
The FCDO Apostille fee is £40 for standard service, £100 for premium service or £35 for e-Apostille service.
The Nepalese Consulate fee is £40 (personal documents e.g. Birth, marriage, death certificates, academic documents, etc.) or £75 per document (banking or financial document)
PROCESSING TIME
Turnaround time is likely to be 1-2 working days for standard service (paper-based), 5-6 hours for premium service or 5-48 hours for the e-Apostille service.
The consular processing time is likely to be 1-2 working days.
IMPORTANT NOTES
Translation into Nepalese is required and must be bound together with the English version document for submission to the consulate for attestation.
A photocopy of the document is required upon submission to the Consulate.
The Applicant’s passport copy ID page and recent visa is required for submission to the Consulate along with a cover letter requesting the legalisation service.
